I photographed the 18th Annual Old Fashioned Christmas Parade in Lawrence, Kansas on December 4, 2010. Hundreds of people lined Massachusetts Street in mid-30 degree temperatures to watch the parade which featured over 80 horses and horse-drawn carriages.

Several of the carriages were almost 100 years old and had been restored to their original condition including an old hearse and a milk delivery wagon. The McCrossan Boys Ranch hitch team traveled 300 miles from Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the event. The team was also chosen to participate in President Obama’s inauguration parade in Washington D.C. on January 20, 2009.
