ESPN’s Brent Musburger and Bobby Knight share a laugh in K-State’s Bramlage Coliseum.
Duke’s coach Mike Krzyzewski directs the Blue Devils against K-State in Kansas City, Missouri.
Recently, I photographed two of the greatest minds in college basketball: former Indiana coach Bobby Knight and current Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski. Coach Knight, now with ESPN, called the K-State game against Virginia Tech in Manhattan, Kansas on November 16, 2010. One week later, K-State played Coach Krzyzewski’s Duke Blue Devils in the championship game of the O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri on November 23, 2010.
Coach Knight has won three NCAA championships and a gold medal as the coach of the 1984 U.S. Olympic basketball team. Coach Krzyzewski has won four NCAA championships and a gold medal as the coach of the 2008 U.S. Olympic basketball team. Knight was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991 and Krzyzewski was enshrined in 2001.
Krzyzewski played for Knight when Knight coached at the U.S. Military Academy from 1963-1971. Krzyzewski was also an assistant coach for Knight at Indiana from 1974-1975.
