a right angle

Recently, I was asked to shoot portraits of each player on the 2011 K-State baseball team.

I wanted a unique look to the photos so I approached the K-State athletic department with the idea of shooting them all with a wide angle lens. I was inspired after watching the World Series on television. Whenever a player hit a home run, Fox Sports would shoot him with a wide angle as he rounded third base towards home plate. It was a different perspective.

When it was time to shoot the K-State portraits, I put each player at their position and asked them to take practice. I had infielders chasing ground balls, outfielders leaping for fly balls, and pitchers throwing to catchers. It took two days at the ballpark and several takes with each player but I managed to get some new angles that I could never get during an actual game.
