K-State students throw confetti before every men’s home basketball game.
A K-State student walks through debris left in Bramlage Coliseum.
Although I am the staff photographer for the K-State Athletic Department, I am unsure how or when the tradition started of throwing confetti before every men’s home basketball game. The K-State marketing and promotions staff passes out newspapers to the students when the doors open at Bramlage Coliseum. The students shred the paper into confetti and throw it after the introduction of the visiting team’s players. It rains down on everyone and everything, including the court. A cleaning crew quickly sweeps the floor before tipoff. After each game, it takes them another four hours to sweep up the debris left in the stands.
