Recently, I went to photograph the Big 12 Rowing Championship at Wyandotte County Lake in Kansas City, Kansas. Just before the start of one of the races, I spotted a Great Blue Heron wading near the shore. It stood still for a few minutes, then lifted off in flight. It skimmed along the water’s surface almost in slow motion. It was beautiful and it made me reflect on God’s goodness.

“So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.” -Genesis 1:21
